All-Stars In My Eyes

April 24, 2012

It’s April. There’s a couple months of baseball between us and the All-Star game. A lot will change. But right now, giddy in the wake of a double-pounding in New York (which sounds way dirtier than I intended), I can see at least three homegrown Giants position players making a legitimate All-Star case. Take that sentence back to 2008, read it aloud to 2008 Me and listen as my derisive laughter fades into a bitter guffaw.

Seriously, though:

Buster Posey A lock so long as he doesn’t get hu — I’m just gonna stop typing now.

Pablo Sandoval I said it before and I’ll say it again: this is the year Pablo makes the jump from “good” to “elite.” Notice how no one is talking about his weight when he’s doing things like this.

Nate Schierholtz The dark, dark horse. Really, to make it as a corner outfielder he’d basically have to maintain that 1.148 OPS, which is…unlikely. But man is it fun to dream.

That's Posey in the middle. What? You didn't know he could turn invisible?

So vote early, vote often. Hell, toss in a few for Manny Burriss while you’re at it. It’s April; go nuts.

Nate is so dark you have to write him in.

Yeah, I noticed that after I linked. But hey, all good things take commitment!

If my 50 votes decide the all-star game it is going to look an awful lot like a Giants/A’s game. But hey, no bias here.
